Our Week In The Web: June 06, 2014

We usually wonder about the people who end up on our website for the first time — where are they from? How did they get here? Do they know what they're looking at when they arrive? The answer to some of those questions is often "from Facebook," "clicking a link a friend shared" and "absolutely no idea." We know this because our analytics data tells us as much, and we're using that information to change the way we share our hours on Facebook. We know a lot of you like to share On Point hours on Facebook, and we also know that the majority of the time when we post our episodes, we post them before there's sound available. We also post them to get your thoughts on the conversation before it begins, but we think there are other ways to do that besides posting half-empty web pages with pretty pictures on our Facebook feed. Moving forward, we're experimenting with different methods of sharing our content in meaningful and useful ways. We're hoping to use questions and quotes on Facebook to gather your thoughts ahead of and during our daily conversations, and sharing completed audio links after the fact. We hope this change helps preserve your contributions to the conversations we have each and every day while providing a more useful pathway for new visitors to discover those conversations in a complete and finished sense.
