Dan Mauzy is the former Santa Fe County Bureau Chief for the Rio Grande Sun in northern New Mexico. It was public radio that got him through the countless hours spent driving through the desert southwest to school board meetings and crime scenes, and eventually he made the switch. He got his start in radio at NPR’s StoryCorps and On the Media before returning to his home state of Massachusetts to join the staff of Radio Boston.
Dan grew up in Stoneham and lives in Somerville. He graduated from Vassar College, where he studied literature and mathematics. His reporting on judicial misconduct received a first place award for continuing coverage from the New Mexico Press Association.
