Dean Russell

Producer, On Point

A musician and composer of contemporary classical music, writing mostly electroacoustic and acousmatic works – his music has been featured at the Goethe Institute’s Bohlen-Pierce Symposium, as well as in several competitions. He is also a founding member of the Boston-based music collective Ears Wide Shut, which films and records local bands and artists playing at DIY venues around the city.

Before joining WBUR, Dean worked in New York City as a junior assistant sound designer and film editor at the post production house 1 Line Media (now, Hilton Media Management, LLC). While there, he freelanced scoring films, editing scripts, and assisted on shoots as a production assistant.

Dean began working in radio as a production intern at WTKK’s Jim & Margery and worked for Northeastern University’s WRBB where he also wrote for the school’s local newspaper The Huntington.

Dean graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Music Technology and Composition at Northeastern University. A military brat, he grew up in various states around the continental U.S. and now lives in Roxbury, Mass.
