The race for Massachusetts' 6th Congressional District has become one to watch.

Seth Moulton, a political newcomer and veteran with three degrees form Harvard, unseated 18-year incumbent U.S. Rep. John Tierney. In the general election, Moulton will now face a former state senator, socially moderate Republican Richard Tisei, who almost beat Tierney two years ago.

Moulton told Radio Boston Tisei would represent more of the same in Washington, where he would support the current Republican leadership.

"It doesn't matter how moderate Richard Tisei is," Moulton said. "If he's going to vote for that regime in Washington, he's going to be part of the problem, not part of the solution."

Tisei told WBUR's All Things Considered that Moulton's upset doesn't change his plan of attack.

"At the end of the day, I know if I do my work, if I meet enough people, if I tell people what I want to do for them, I'll attract people to my campaign and it doesn't matter who I'm running against."
