A Democrat has held Massachusetts' fifth congressional district since 1974, when the late Paul Tsongas ousted a Republican. His wife, Niki Tsongas, filled the seat in a special election in 2007. Now the GOP has its sights on Tsongas, and Republicans and independents are lining up to try to loosen the Democratic grip on the seat.

We talk with Tsongas on Tuesday and take your calls and comments about her upcoming election battle. We also hear about her recent trip to Iraq and Afghanistan, as well as her role on the House Natural Resources Committee and her views on the BP oil spill.

This program aired on June 1, 2010.
