New Bedford Mayor Wants To Unlink MCAS, Graduation
ResumeIt's graduation season, but about 3,000 students in Massachusetts will not be getting their diplomas because they failed the state's comprehensive achievement test, the MCAS.
A disproportionate number of those students are from low-income and minority families, and they attend schools in struggling cities such as New Bedford. The city's mayor, Scott Lang, thinks that only compounds the problems facing his city.
