As a child in Gloucester, John Morris heard countless stories about his grandfather, Steve Olsson. Olsson was a thoughtful family man who made his living — and eventually lost his life — as a doryman. His body was never found and his end remains a mystery.

Morris' interest in his grandfather and the life of dorymen resulted in a large research project and the recently published "Alone At Sea," a history of Gloucester dorymen from 1623-1939.

This program aired on July 19, 2010.
