Larger-than-life personality and unofficial chairman of the Boston music scene Billy Ruane was remembered at a concert at the Middle East nightclub in Cambridge on Wednesday.

Ruane promoted bands such as Buffalo Tom and The Neats in the 1980s and '90s, and he had a reputation of somehow being everywhere at once on the Boston rock scene.

More than 15 performers came out to the club to remember Ruane, who died of a heart attack in October, just shy of his 53rd birthday.

This segment aired on November 18, 2010.
