iCar Hopes To Lap Zipcar
ResumeMore than 500,000 people worldwide use Zipcar when they want to get somewhere that public transit can't. The car-sharing service started in Cambridge, where it became a fast favorite among those who are car-less by choice — or perhaps by necessity. It seems, however, that there's a new communal vehicle on the block.
iCar, a Somerville-based startup, is out to compete with Zipcar. The company says it has newer technology, better customer service and better prices.
Zipcar is the gold standard in car-sharing services, but hasn't turned a profit in 10 years. Can iCar succeed?
