Boston Goes Baroque, And Beyond Bach
ResumeEven classical music aficionados can be excused for not knowing the name Jan Dismas Zelenka. Zelenka was a composer who was largely overlooked in his time, often in favor of famous contemporaries Johann Sebastian Bach, George Frideric Handel and others.
A group of Boston musicians, however, is working to restore Zelenka to what they say is his rightful place among luminary composers. Starting in January, they'll perform Zelenka alongside other masters like Johann Joachim Quantz and Georg Philipp Telemann as part of a series they're calling the Boston Zelenka Project.
Three of the project's members join us in-studio to speak about the series.
