OpenCourt Website Under Scrutiny
ResumeThe Supreme Judicial Court heard arguments Thursday to determine if the website OpenCourt.us is endangering the safety of victims involved in trials at the Quincy District Court.
The site was founded by WBUR as a means of streaming video of the courts' proceedings online, with the stated purpose to make the Quincy District Court "more accessible through the use of modern technology."
However, Norfolk prosecutors claim that wide distribution of video from inside the courtroom could be damaging to victims of crimes.
Justice Margot Botsford decided Thursday that the full Supreme Judicial Court should decide the case.
We speak with WBUR's Senior Reporter, David Boeri, who was in court Thursday, about this case.
