The Merits Of Cooling Down
ResumeThose of us who exercise on a regular basis may have a few secrets and no, we're not referring to that awful "Gym Rock Out" playlist on your iPod. It's the fact that most people fail to make time for cool-downs after exercising.
WBUR's Commonhealth blog originally reported on this issue after the sudden death of Kara Kennedy, daughter of the late Sen. Ted Kennedy). Kennedy, 51 years old and the mother of two, was a lung cancer survivor but passed away tragically at her Washington, D.C., health club shortly after finishing a routine swim.
This made Commonhealth co-host Carey Goldberg ask, is there a danger zone after exercise? And what can we do to address it?

- Dr. Aaron Baggish, Associate Director of the Cardiovascular Performance Program at Massachusetts General Hospital; cardiologist for the Boston Marathon
