Eight more quarters of football. That's what it will take this year for the Patriots to make their first trip back to the Super Bowl since 2008. The Pats finished the season with a 13-3 record, good enough for home-field advantage in the playoffs, and a bye in the first round, which starts this weekend.

If their last two trips to the playoffs are any indication, though, the Pats will need all the help they can get. In 2009, they were trounced by the Ravens in the first round, and last year they again had an early exit thanks to a loss to the New York Jets.

The team's first test this year will come against the winner of Saturday's match-up between the Cincinnati Bengals and the Houston Texans. Bill Littlefield of Only A Game joins Radio Boston to preview the Pats' Super Bowl chances.

This program aired on January 4, 2012.
