It was a shock to many when the city's second largest professional opera company, Opera Boston, announced it would shutter its doors at the end of 2011. On Dec. 23, 2011, the board announced that the company would close its doors due to a $500,000 budget deficit.

But it seems there may be more to the story than we could have anticipated.  Geoff Edgers, Boston Globe arts reporter and Radio Boston contributor, joins us to discuss the demise of Opera Boston.
