We're half way through the baseball season, and the Red Sox are in the gutter — tied for last place in the AL East with Toronto.

The Boston Globe's Dan Shaughnessy pointed out today that even though they're in last place, they have actually scored the second most runs of any team this year. Shaugnessy says the problem is they lose the games where the scores are close — basically, they choke.

And after five season with the Celtics, Ray Allen has taken his talents to South Beach, agreeing to take a pay cut to join the Miami Heat.

Larry Bird weighed in, telling ESPN that "The one thing that bothers me the most is guys taking big pay cuts for a year to go down there and try to win a championship."

Bill Littlefield brings us up to date on all that's going on in the Boston sports world.
