With just five weeks to go until election day, this could be a pivotal day here in Massachusetts in the closely watched race for the U.S. Senate.  Republican Senator Scott Brown and Democratic Challenger Elizabeth Warren are preparing for their second debate tonight at the University of Massachusetts in Lowell.  According to a new WBUR poll, Warren is leading Brown by 2 percentage points, suggesting that this remains a very tight race, and that it might even be tightening.

Also in flux is the race for a seat in the Sixth Congressional District. A new poll released by The Boston Globe shows  shows Republican challenger Richard Tisei leading Democratic incumbent John Tierney by six points, compared to the last poll, which showed Tierney leading Tisei by seven points. With a 4.4% margin of error in the polling and 30% of poll participants claiming to be "undecided," both candidates remain on edge.
