Parents, Officials Debate Boston School Assignment System
ResumeA controversial new busing plan for Boston’s public school system has come under fire from some parents who are concerned it reduces the choices those parents and students have. City Councilor John Connolly has proposed a new system which creates city-wide magnet schools. We talk with Connolly, Boston Public Schools Superintendent Carol Johnson, and Barbara Fields, a former teacher who's now executive director of the Black Educators Alliance of Massachusetts.
