It's Oscar weekend, and one movie with a distinctly New England feel is up for an Academy Award. Moonrise Kingdom is directed by Wes Anderson and is nominated for Best Original Screenplay.

It's set on a remote, barely populated, fictional island in the 1960's — and it tells the magical story of a two young teenagers who fall in love, and send letters back and forth as they hatch their plan to runaway together.

The movie was filmed largely in Rhode Island. Production Designer Adam Stockhausen tells Radio Boston how he chose that location for the film.
