The Providence-based band The Low Anthem has performed in venues as varied as Carnegie Hall and Old South Church in Boston. As of today, the group can add the Boston Public Library to that list.

The band joins WBUR's Anthony Brooks and Sacha Pfeiffer for Radio Boston's live broadcast in Copley Square to share its unique brand of folk music. The Low Anthem has been described as simultaneously "old-timey" and "otherworldly," which  makes sense when you hear its music for yourself. Pretty soon, there will be more of it to hear; the band discusses its forthcoming album recorded  in a derelict opera house in Providence.

Guests

Ben Knox Miller, guitar

Jeff Prystowsky, bass and piano

Florence Wallis, vocals, percussion

This segment aired on September 25, 2013.
