Upstairs on the Square is a bit of a Harvard Square institution.

It's known for good food and friendly service, as well as its lavishly decorated rooms with green and deep purple walls. Large mirrors reflect the chandeliers and — during this holiday season — there's a generously decorated Christmas tree on the bar.

For the past 31 years , owners Mary Catherine Deibel and Deborah Hughes have been welcoming diners in Harvard Square — first at Upstairs at the Pudding, and then at Upstairs on the Square.

But on New Year's Eve the restaurant will serve its last meal. So we paid a visit to say goodbye.

Guest

Corby Kummer, senior editor at The Atlantic and a James Beard Award-winning food writer

Mary Catherine Deibel, co-owner of Upstairs On The Square

This segment aired on December 19, 2013.
