It sounds like the makings of a blockbuster action film: five men down a tunnel so dark, and so deep, that they're relying on specialized breathing equipment to navigate the pitch-black, oxygen-starved hole in a bid to complete the final stage of a crucial engineering mission. And then, their equipment fails.
These events are true, and they happened right here, hundreds of feet below Boston Harbor.
Neil Swidey, Boston Globe Magazine writer and author of the new book, "Trapped Under The Sea: One Engineering Marvel, Five Men, and a Disaster Ten Miles Into The Darkness."
