Jesse Morton is a fellow at George Washington University's Program on Extremism. It's a program he is uniquely qualified to be a part of, because Morton is a former extremist.

Morton was once one of the most prolific recruiters for al-Qaida, inspiring Americans to commit acts of terror — all from his apartment in Brooklyn, New York. He ran the Revolution Muslim website, posting tutorials and recruiting outside mosques.

Now reformed, Morton is working to counter the activities that sent him to prison in 2011.

Guest

Jesse C. Morton, research fellow at George Washington University's Program on Extremism, which tweets @gwupoe.

This segment aired on October 25, 2016.
