Beethoven's "Symphony No. 1" is about as classical as classical music gets. But conductor, composer and author Rob Kapilow will make you hear Beethoven in a completely different way.

Kapilow has made a name for himself over the last 27 years with his "What Makes It Great?" series, dissecting the hidden majesty within some of the best-known musical compositions. His note-by-note exploration of Beethoven's "Symphony No. 1" has changed the way we listen to Beethoven, and most pop music.

This is a rebroadcast of a live conversation from March 3, 2016.
