Northeastern University Tells African-American Artists Group To Vacate Studio Space
ResumeA group of African-American artists have been told by Northeastern University that they must vacate their studios by July 13. The African-American Master Artists-in-Residence Program, or AAMARP, is a forty-year-old black arts collective that is a part of Northeastern's Department of African American Studies.
The group has used the studio space for more than thirty years. Over the weekend, artists from the group say they were locked out of the facility. Both sides say they hope for an amicable solution to be reached.
