A Fresh Twist On 2 Classic Summer Cocktails

Nothing beats a refreshing drink on a hot summer day, so we invited Lonnie Newburn of The Boston Shaker to join us to demonstrate how to make his twists on two classic summer drinks, a daiquiri and a Venetian Spritz.

Venetian Spritz:

A classic bitter Italian cocktail, typically enjoyed as an aperitif before dinner.

Ingredients:
- 3 oz prosecco
- 2 oz bitter liqueur (Newburn recommends Cocchi Aperitivo)
- 1 oz soda water
- Optional: 1 oz fruit brandy (Newburn recommends Beaver Pond Distillery Apricot Brandy)

Directions: Build ingredients over ice in a highball or wine glass and then stir briefly to mix.


Sherry Daiquiri:

A classic sour cocktail, enjoyed on hot summer days.

Ingredients: 
- 1 oz rum (Newburn recommends Privateer Amber Rum)
- 1 oz Amontillado sherry
- 3/4 oz fresh lime juice
- 1/2 oz simple syrup

Directions: Build cocktail in a Boston shaker, add ice, and shake for 10 seconds. Strain into cocktail or coupe glass.
