Cellist Laurence Lesser is celebrating a big milestone next month — his 80th Birthday. Lesser has been with the New England Conservatory for almost 45 years, serving as the president from 1983 to 1996, and has no intention of retiring anytime soon.

"Music has been my life, all of my life," Lesser said. "And, all of a sudden, to stop doing... it would be like I'm done with life."
