The Role of the United Nations Listen Listen

The United Nations and its Secretary-General, Kofi Annan, have been awared the 2001 Nobel Peace Prize. But this is no time for celebration. With the United States creating its own international coalition, the question arises about the role the U.N. will play in the war on terrorism.

Some nations have said the U.N. should be taking the lead in any efforts to track down terrorists. Others are hoping it will lead a nation-building effort if the Taliban is toppled.
