Living in a World of Terrorism: Have things really changed?

Terrorism hit home for America last week. But in other parts of the world, suicide bombers, coordinated gun attacks, and car bombs have been a sad part of the landscape for decades. Israel and Northern Ireland are two regions that can provide insight into how to live with terrorism. Israeli psychiatrist Arieh Shalev says fear has always been a normal part of the human condition and that America's lack of fear may have been a middle class illusion.

    Dissent: Is War the Right Thing?

    Michael Moore's radio diary from last night's program challenged President Bush's declaration of a "War on Terrorism." Moore's opinion that America must look at itself in the mirror before it starts a military campaign against terrorists led to a slew of emails and postings in our forum. Is America behind this new "war?" Alan Wolfe, Professor at Boston College, says dissent in wartime is nothing new in America. The challenge of Presidents throughout history has been to convince the country to accept that to win a war, there must be losses.
