Forums: Are you still waving your American flag?

In last night's address, President Bush looked back at the past two months and said, "What the terrorists never expected was that America would emerge stronger, with a renewed spirit of pride and patriotism."

In the days following the Sept. 11th attack, signs of patriotism were everywhere. But now, tattered American flags formerly tied to car antennae lie in the street and Lee Greenwood is nowhere to be heard. Was our outburst of patriotism genuine? And is being patriotic necessarily a good thing?
