BOSTON — The Memphis Grizzlies keep winning on the road. And now they’re even beating Boston. Rudy Gay scored 28 points on Wednesday night to lead Memphis to a 111-91 victory over the Celtics and give the Grizzlies a franchise-record seventh straight road win.
FORT MYERS, Fla. — The Boston Red Sox on Wednesday signed former standout shortstop Nomar Garciaparra to a one-day contract so that he can retire as a member of the team.

BOSTON — Ray Allen scored a game-high 25 points, including a go-ahead 3-pointer with 17.1 seconds remaining, and the Celtics surged past the Washington Wizards 86-83 on Sunday.
PITTSBURGH — Evgeni Malkin scored the go-ahead goal early in the third period after former linemate Pascal Dupuis tied it, and the Pittsburgh Penguins remained unbeaten since the Olympic break by beating the Bruins 2-1 on Sunday.

PHILADELPHIA — Kevin Garnett scored 22 points as the Boston Celtics handed the Philadelphia 76ers their fifth straight loss, 96-86 on Friday night. Rajon Rando had 16 points and 11 assists, Ray Allen scored 16 points and Glen Davis added 12 for the Celtics.
BOSTON — Football is for boys and cheerleading is for girls. Right? We are accustomed to thinking of most of our sports in terms of separation by gender. But every once in a while, that assumption gets dramatically challenged.
BOSTON — Tim Thomas made 24 saves, stopping Tyler Bozak with a pad save to end the shootout before pumping his glove to celebrate Boston’s first win of 2010 in the TD Garden. But the biggest saves might have come against former Bruin and Olympic teammate Phil Kessel, whom Thomas stopped at point-blank range three times in regulation and again in the shootout.
FORT MYERS, FLA. — The last time Josh Beckett and Nick Blackburn pitched, their teams lost the second game of a pair of three-game sweeps in AL division series. The stakes were much lower on Thursday night when the Boston Red Sox beat the Minnesota Twins 2-1 on Mark Wagner’s tiebreaking single in the eight in the spring training opener for both teams.
BOSTON — The New England Revolution is scheduled to open their season March 27 in Los Angeles. If all goes according to play, in their first home game, the Revs will host Toronto on April 10. But there is some suspense regarding whether the Revolution and 15 other teams that make up Major League Soccer will begin playing on time this spring.
