This week's show featured the first of three panel discussions presented by Boston University's African Studies Center and the African Presidential Archives and Research Center on "Rebuilding Liberia."

The discussion looked at Liberia's historical background and the panelists were: Dr. Patrick Seyon, former president of the University of Liberia; Dr. John Gay, who has written and studied extensively in Africa, and lived and worked in Liberia in the 1960s; Dr. Jo Sullivan, executive director of the Cambridge public school's office of curriculum development and a former Peace Corps volunteer in Liberia; and counselor Tiawan Gongloe, a Liberian human rights lawyer living in exile in the U.S.
