English High School Dean Charged With Shooting Student

A man who up until Wednesday night was a dean at Boston's English High School is facing charges for the alleged shooting of a 17-year-old male student in Roxbury Tuesday.

Prosecutors say 55-year-old Shaun Harrison was a marijuana dealer and enlisted the victim, whose name was not released, to work for him "until a dispute arose between them."

Authorities say the two were walking down Magazine Street in Roxbury Tuesday evening when Harrison shot the victim in the back of the head and fled the scene on foot.

The victim was brought to Boston Medical Center and is expected to survive.

Police say the incident was caught on surveillance footage from a nearby business.

Harrison, who was fired by Boston Public Schools following his arrest Wednesday night, is being held on $250,000 bail. He faces charges including armed assault with intent to murder and unlawful possession of a firearm.

Three other men — Dante Lara, Wilson Peguero and Oscar Pena — were also arraigned Thursday in connection with the case. Prosecutors "believe they were present at [Harrison's] residence to remove evidence" on Wednesday night, when they were detained. The three were held on bail.

English High spokeswoman Denise Snyder says the safety of students remains the top priority.
