Sen. Markey To Address UMass-Dartmouth Graduates

U.S. Sen. Edward Markey is scheduled to deliver the keynote address and receive the Chancellor's Medal at University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth commencement exercises.

The Massachusetts Democrat, known as a consumer champion and leader on energy, environmental protection and telecommunications policy, will address graduates of the university's engineering, nursing, performing arts and marine science schools on May 15.

Chancellor Divina Grossman says Markey's advocacy for issues related to climate change is of particular relevance to today's college students.

Markey called his invitation an honor.

Markey served 37 years in the U.S. House of Representatives before his election to the Senate in 2013.
