The cost of a drug to help treat cystic fibrosis has drawn attention to a dispute between a group of doctors and Boston-based Vertex Pharmaceuticals.

The doctors say the $259,000 per patient per year cost is egregious.

Among those doctors is Brian O'Sullivan, who joins Morning Edition to talk about the significance of this two-drug combination, Orkambi. O'Sullivan is a pulmonary specialist at Children's Hospital at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Manchester, New Hampshire, and a former teacher at the UMass Medical School in Worcester.

This segment aired on July 21, 2015.
