Ric Duarte is new to WBUR and to NPR in general – but not at all new to sports or radio.
Ric has been a part of the sports media since 1986, reporting on the Bruins and their opponents for different radio outlets. He has done play-by-play for high-school hockey and football and always been a fan of hockey and the Bruins. Even at his advanced age (not telling), he still plays hockey three mornings a week.
He has been writing a Bruins blog since 2007 for WBZ.com and will bring his objectivity to wbur.org to keep you informed and up-to-date on all things Bruin for the 2010-2011 season. Objectively.
Ric grew up in Dorchester. He lives in Malden and remembers “Jesus saves but Espo scores on the rebound!”
The Bruins traded forwards Rich Peverley and Tyler Seguin and defenseman Ryan Button for forwards Loui Eriksson, Matt Fraser, Reilly Smith and defenseman Joe Morrow from the Dallas Stars.
The Bruins have advanced to the Stanley Cup Finals for the second time in three years with a hard fought 1-0 win on a third period goal by Adam McQuaid. The Pittsburgh Penguins hadn’t been swept in 45 playoff series. The last time was in 1979 by the Bruins.
The Bruins did not look anything like the team that outworked and out matched and out scored the Toronto Maple Leafs as they suffered a 4-2 loss and allowed the Leafs to tie the series.
