A Virginia police officer born in Springfield, Massachusetts, has been laid to rest in western Massachusetts.

Ashley Guindon, 28, had just been sworn in as an officer when she was killed, on Feb. 27.

As Sam Hudzik of New England Public Radio reports, members of the community came out in force to show their support on Monday.
