BSO And St. Louis Symphony Orchestra Throw Down In Epic World Series 'Brass-Off'

The Boston and St. Louis symphony orchestras are home to some of the country’s most talented musicians, but neither is above some good old-fashioned smack talk ahead of the World Series.

In a video posted to the BSO’s YouTube account just hours before the Red Sox host the Cardinals in Game 1 of the championship series, the brass section of each orchestra light-heartedly taunts each other, throwing verbal fisticuffs about Boston's past rivalry with St. Louis, and the Cardinals’ many appearances in the World Series.

SLSO: “Don’t get impatient as we cruise towards our 12th championship. At this point we don’t even remember how to lose.”

BSO: “You remembered how to lose in 2004. You remembered really well.”

After some more back and forth, former BSO conductor and music director laureate Seiji Ozawa pops up from behind trumpet player Michael Martin and shouts, “Bring it on!” before the two groups launch into a fierce “brass off” of “Anything You Can Do I Can Do Better.”
