Portraits Of Boston: 'Waiting For This Man'

“We got married at the turn of the century—January 1, 2000.”

“I was 53, and it was my first marriage. I was waiting for this man. I had said no to five other men. You know, I tell young people, ‘Don’t get married just to get married.’ It’s really about being with someone you want to be with, and someone who fills your life. It’s important that you feel comfortable and become yourself.”

“How did you know he was the one?”

“Well, it’s also about the time in one’s life when you know it’s the right thing to do. I was very busy in the work that I did. I travelled a lot. I did all the things I wanted to do. Then we met and it felt right.”
