Lisa Wieland Is Tapped As New Massport CEO

A woman already employed by the Massachusetts Port Authority will become its next CEO and executive director.

The Massport Board of Directors on Thursday approved a five-year contract for
port director Lisa Wieland, who's held her current position since 2015. She's been with Massport since 2006.

A Massport spokeswoman said the board voted 5-2 for Wieland.

Contract negotiations will occur at a later date, Massport says. Wieland replaces Thomas Glynn, who announced last year he was stepping down. Glynn made $306,000 last year.

Massport, a quasi-public agency, oversees Logan and two other airports, and the port of Boston. It directly employs about 1,200 people.

She beat out Boston Planning and Development Agency Director Brian Golden for the job. Including the two finalists, Massport says of the 10 semifinalists, five were women and three were people of color. Acting CEO John Pranckevicius, Massport's chief financial officer, was also one of 100 applicants for the job.

"The Board is confident [Wieland's] diverse career experience, expertise and acumen make her the most qualified and right person for the job," board Chairman Lew Evangelidis said in a statement.
