Winchester Commuter Rail Station Closed Due To Structural Problems

The Winchester Center Commuter Rail Station is closed until further notice due to safety concerns, the MBTA says.

The T says there are deteriorating structural conditions on the station's platform. Passengers will be allowed off at the station, but no one will be picked up there.

The nearby Wedgemere Station can be used as an alternative, the T says.

Later this month, the T will begin scaling back weekend commuter rail service in its first round of service cuts intended to address budget concerns. Starting Jan. 23, five lines will run some scaled back service, while seven others will stop running on weekends altogether.
