Public Option Appears to be Doomed
Over the weekend, momentum built to exclude a government-backed public insurance option from any national health-care reform plan.
Robert Pear offered a smart analysis in The New York Times; then Maine Republican Olympia Snowe weighed in against the public option. The Globe concurred, with a story this morning. Democrats seem to be accepting the loss, with Sen. Dianne Feinstein of California telling CNN, there's "more than one way to skin a cat."
Still, a new nationwide survey finds that 73 percent of doctors support a public insurance options, NPR reports.
