Audit Finds Businesses Violating Insurance Law

The Globe reports that an audit of select businesses found that many may not be providing health insurance to their workers as required by the 2006 health care reform law.

Of the 426 companies audited so far, 172, or 40 percent, had violated the law’s requirement that most employers contribute a portion of their workers’ insurance premiums or pay a penalty, the story says.

Businesses owners interviewed said they were trying to comply, but the health care law is so complex, they're unclear about what is required of them.

This program aired on October 1, 2009. The audio for this program is not available.
