Sparks Fly Over Revamped Payment Plan
Hospital execs are fighting back against a state plan that would change the way doctors and hospitals are paid, moving from a fee-for-service system, to global payments, according to today's Boston Globe.
Not surprisingly, hospitals and doctors want to move ahead more gradually with the plan, and begin on a voluntary basis, the Globe reports. Public hearings on the plan, which is intended to cut costs and improve care and is backed by a special state commission on payment reform, begin this week.
