Executives Skip Cost Control Hearings

The Boston Globe reports that the state's top hospital executives failed to show up for public hearings held by Gov. Deval Patrick's administration investigating ways to rein in health costs in the state.

Reporter Kay Lazar writes that leaders from Cambridge Health Alliance and Emerson Hospital in Concord did appear to testify but, "among yesterday’s no-shows were executives of Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Boston Medical Center, Caritas Christi Health Care, and Children’s Hospital Boston."

In a separate Globe story, MIT economist Jonathan Gruber is on the hot seat for failing to disclose payments he's receiving from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services as part of a contract to consult on federal health reform legislation.
