Hauser On Morality, Evil and Psychopaths

I'm not sure what kind of "scientific misconduct" Harvard psychologist and evolutionary biologist Marc Hauser may have committed. The news reports have been frustratingly vague (although Nicholas Wade's NY Times story about authorities raiding Hauser's lab and seizing his hard drives offered some nice color) and Harvard isn't talking.

Maybe he lost his notes (who hasn't)? Or maybe he fabricated data — who knows?

Watching this academic/scientific morality play unfold without a word from the leading man — particularly a guy like Hauser who isn't shy about his opinions, is oddly unnerving. So, while we wait for the rest of the story to break, here, courtesy YouTube is a short video of Hauser speaking about the mind of the psychopath — and the difference between the criminal variety and the ones who simply never get caught.

This program aired on August 18, 2010. The audio for this program is not available.
