Dentists Buy Back Halloween Candy

The Los Angeles Times offers this useful report:

Here's how the nationwide program works: Dentists who have registered with the program pay $1 per pound of candy brought to their offices. Dates of the nationwide buyback vary, but some dentists are accepting candy until Friday. To find a participating dentist, go to the Halloween Candy Buy Back website and enter your ZIP Code.

I tried it for my Brookline zipcode and it gave me one dentist in Brookline and one in Arlington. So now my feelings are mixed: I'm glad not to have to waste the candy, but damn, now I have to go rooting in the trash. Also, should we be contributing to the decay of our troops' teeth? On the other hand, goodness knows they deserve some treats...
