Gov. Baker Names 2 Top State Health Care Officials

Gov. Charlie Baker has tapped two top health care officials.

Baker announced Thursday that Louis Gutierrez will serve as executive director of the Massachusetts Health Connector, which oversees the state's health insurance marketplace and website.

Baker also appointed Daniel Tsai as assistant secretary for MassHealth, the state's Medicaid program.

Tsai is a partner in McKinsey & Company's Healthcare Systems and Services practice and helps lead the firm's Medicaid service line.

Gutierrez is a principal at Massachusetts-based IT consulting firm Exeter Group. He's also served on the boards of Harvard Pilgrim Health Care and the New England Health Exchange Network.

Baker has said the factors driving a $765 million state deficit include a projected $230 million shortfall in Medicaid tied to the failure of the state's Connector website last year.
