Mass. Health Care Groups Come Out Against Plan To Help Small Hospitals
Some Massachusetts health care industry groups are coming out strongly against bills approved by the House and Senate designed to support small community hospitals.
The House version would put more than $330 million in new fees on larger hospitals and insurers to boost the finances of smaller institutions. The Senate bill would put minimum amounts on what insurers can pay hospitals.
According to The Boston Globe, at least 12 industry trade groups are urging lawmakers to drop the bills, saying they threaten to increase health care costs.
