A federal jury in Boston has found five executives of the pharmaceutical company Insys Therapeutics guilty of racketeering conspiracy.

The five were convicted of bribing doctors to prescribe fentanyl spray to patients who shouldn't have been getting the drug.

It's a landmark case. It's the first criminal trial of pharmaceutical executives for tactics used to sell opioids.

Aaron Leibowitz is a reporter with the legal newswire "Law 360," and he's been covering the trial. He joined All Things Considered from the federal courthouse in Boston to discuss the verdicts.

This segment aired on May 2, 2019.
