Consider This: Springfield Vaccination Rate Remains Stubbornly Low As Delta Variant Spreads

As the Commonwealth sees a spike in coronavirus cases due to the highly contagious delta variant, some areas are still struggling to get folks vaccinated. One of them is Hampden County in Western Massachusetts.

There, a little over half of residents have received at least one dose. That’s compared to more than 70 Percent of residents statewide….according to the Department of Public Health. The vaccination rate is even lower among Black and Latino residents in Hampden’s county seat, the city of Springfield.
